A rainscreen is a wall assembly.

Match the cladding profile, clip, fixing and support. A decking clip detail does not establish how siding attaches to a wall.

Four systems. Different details.

  • DeckWise 1X: aluminum standoff, direct to sheathing, perpendicular screw.
  • DeckWise 5/4: stainless clip on furring, primary angled screw plus a board attachment for specified orientations.
  • Original Viking: furring-based system; exact profile and fastener submittal needed.
  • VC2: separately described no-batten system; do not reuse the original Viking dimensions.

Read with the exact product instructions. Features are simplified for visibility; these are not production drawings or structural details.

Keep flashing, weather-barrier penetrations, drainage, ventilation and wall-load design in the project detail. A clip category alone establishes none of these.

Rainscreen · DeckWise

DeckWise 1X Rainscreen

An aluminum standoff clip that attaches directly over structural wood sheathing.

Material scope
Product page names Ipe, Cumaru, Garapa and Western Red Cedar with the required siding profile.
First check
The product is described for 3/4-inch siding, but the linked cutter drawing labels .700-inch thickness. Confirm the approved supplied profile; do not reconcile these values by assumption.

DeckWise 5/4 Hidden Siding

A 304 stainless clip system on furring, with a separate through-board fixing for certain orientations.

Material scope
Hardwood siding with the specified 15/16-inch actual profile. A species-by-species approval list is not given on the reviewed product page.
First check
Do not substitute the aluminum 1X clip or its no-furring detail. Separate starter clips are used here.

Rainscreen · Viking Clip

Viking Clip — original

The original aluminum rainscreen clip works with vertical furring and a matching siding profile.

Material scope
System literature offers domestic and tropical species; those offerings are not approval of every board sold under the same name.
First check
The original Viking Clip needs furring. VC2 is the separately described no-batten option.

Rainscreen · Viking Clip

Viking Clip 2 / VC2

A distinct no-batten rainscreen option; original Viking dimensions and schedules cannot be transferred.

Material scope
A wood rainscreen system. Species-level VC2 approval and an exact profile match have not been established from a current technical submittal.
First check
The system owner distinguishes VC2 from the original clip by its no-batten mounting concept.

Read the fine print

Same wood. Different clip. Different answer.

DeckWise’s chart distinguishes species and drying condition. “Listed” is a conditional manufacturer listing, not approval of your supplied board or assembly.
