Conditions that change the answer
- EB332W: 3/32-inch gap for air-dried decking. EB316W: 3/16 inch and EB14W: 1/4 inch for kiln-dried decking; the catalog gives 3/4–1-1/2-inch board thickness.
- WP kits with 1-5/8-inch screws are specifically for roof decks on 1-inch sleepers. They are not the default substitute for WD kits.
- C-F-2025 describes kiln-dried as generally ≤19% moisture and air-dried as generally >19%; this convention differs from DeckWise’s chart. Do not combine their thresholds.
- A species name alone does not approve the supplied profile, moisture condition, screw or exposure.
- For saltwater, pool chemicals or treated substrates, verify the complete metal combination and manufacturer corrosion guidance. A stainless insert is not a blanket marine approval.

The angled screw penetrates the clip, the first board, then the joist. The next board seats on the free wing; its opposite edge gets the next fastener.

Dimensions belong to different parts
Installed gap, clip size, board thickness and groove cut are separate measurements. Mill tolerances and the sold accessory match remain separate approvals.

The screw is part of the system
WD: #7 × 2-1/4-inch trim-head, Type 305 or 316 by SKU. WP: #7 × 1-5/8-inch Type 316 for the stated sleeper application. Clip reinforcement is Type 300 series, not a claim that the whole assembly is 316.
Installation sequence
Identify the exact EB332W, EB316W or EB14W kit and supplied board groove. Establish the starter and last-board face attachment.
Use the EB-GUIDE and 1/8-inch pilot bit for the manufacturer’s angled attachment.
Seat the biscuit in the groove. Drive the matching screw through the biscuit and the first board into the joist.
Slide the next board onto the remaining radius wing. This edge engages the biscuit without a second screw through it.
Resolve joint support, edge details and any adhesive requirement with the current installation instructions for the kit.
